Journey Girl 18" doll (Kayla) renamed Lynn

Bought from Toys r Us for around the $30 mark, this doll, while thinner, is a good substitute for the American Girl style of doll. She fits American Girl clothes and accessories and is readily available. She is pose-able and capable of standing on her own. For the price this doll is a great value particularly if bought for little girl play vs. collecting.

Our Generation 18" Doll (Alejandra) renamed Wendy

I bought Wendy from a thrift store for a whopping $2. Our Generation dolls I believe are sold at Target stores (correct me if I'm mistaken) For around $25-30. This doll is a good American Girl substitute, she fits the clothes and accessories and is a great value as a little girl play doll that is readily available. This doll was a hot mess when I brought her home. Makes me wish I had opted for a "before" picture. Nothing that was a deal breaker though. Her vinyl and cloth body and face are all in excellent, clean shape. Her hair was a disaster though. Matted and the poor things bangs had been cut clear up to the scalp. I was able to save what I could by washing with baby shampoo and soaking in fabric softener, then gently combing. I still ended up needing to cut a good 3-4 inches of length off as well as pull forward some new bangs. After some "frizz ease" serum and hair spray though, I dare say her new bob cut suits her. I'll be honest in saying that I have never been fond of the faces of Our Generation dolls, however once I added glasses (bought at Micheals, Springfield collection) to her look I have sort of fallen in love with her.

Unknown Origin 18" Doll, named Laura

This is my first doll (as an adult collector) I bought her on a whim for arts and crafts and she started this ball rolling. I honestly don't remember her brand name, mostly because it's an off brand I've never heard again. I want to say it was something like "My Lovely Friends". I bought her at a small southern california factory reject store for around $7. If you ever run across something similar 1. Please send me any info you have on it, and 2. Get one for your little girl. She is a terrific value for a child. Her price can't be beat. Her eyes close when she lays down and her hair is GREAT and thick which is not common in an off brand. Her faults (to me) are that she is mostly cloth bodied. she is cloth up to her neck, and down to her mid-forearms and mid-calves. This makes dressing her a task and she is not pose-able. I adore her though. She was a great find and I love her cute little baby face.
